FRENCH ELECTIONS (2)
Uuuuf! He's made it! And certainly better than the surveys forecast. But of course Emmanuel Macron has a long, thorny road ahead of him and perhaps the first thing is to ensure solid support in the June legislative elections - not an easy task.
I know he comes from the banking sector, that he is a liberal and therefore centre-minded, but he seems to have a talent for displaying a more caring attitude concerning social issues. We can only keep our fingers crossed and hope that he will breathe some fresh air into the EU. After Britain leaves, there might be more enthusiasm between the remaining member countries to pull together. The UK so often tended to chafe at the bit, wanting more independence for Britain outside the Community decisions.
Bonne chance, Macron!
